Card: Saying Goodbye to Beautiful Promenade

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post! Only a few more days until the all new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog goes live! I wanted to feature a few of the retiring products with today's card.  I am a little sad to see today's set go, but believe me when I tell you that the new products are amazing.  I can't wait to share all the new products with you, but until then...

And here is today's project...

Today's card features the Beautiful Promenade set with a mix of the Designer Series Paper from the Ornate Garden Suite.  The gold background paper adds to the elegance of this card.  When using such beautiful paper, it is easy to keep the card on the simple side.  The flower stamps and die-cuts are from the Beautiful Promenade and Beautiful Layers sets.  They come together in Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss for today's card.

Start with a card base of Mint Macaron sized to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Add a layer of Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper.  Using the stamparatus, stamp the layered flower stamps in Mint Macaron and Blackberry Bliss.  Crop the Mint Macaron flower using the Beautiful Layers die-cuts.  Using the Rectangle Stitched die-cuts, crop one panel in Mint Macaron and one panel in Whisper White.  Stamp the sentiment in Mint Macaron and snip using the Triple Banner Punch.  Position your pieces as shown.

Case It Up Tuesday!

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post! It's that time again...time to CASE IT UP! I am currently in Orlando, FL on a work trip enjoying some beautiful sunshine, relaxing, taking in the scenery...oh and learning all about accounting in the world of K-12 schools.  All that being said, I took this week to CASE up a card that I posted previously.  I am also currently working on the samples for my next class to be held on March 16th and this will be one of the card's featured during that class.

And here is today's project...

You can check out the previous card HERE that served as this week's inspiration.  I have to confess that the Magnolia Suite has been one of my favorites.  The coordinating colors, subtle designs and comforting flowers just make this suite a joy to work with every time I pull it off the shelf! This card is on the simple side and that is also one of the things I love about it.  I think you could easily "step up" this card with more flowers underneath the sentiment or even a few additional embellishments.  I can't wait to see how my crafters will make this card their own! How would you make it your own?!

Card Details
Size: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
Paper: Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow, Magnolia Lane DSP, Whisper White
Ink: Mossy Meadow
Stamps: Good Morning Magnolia
Tools: Beautiful Layers die-cuts, Sprig Punch, Layering Circles die-cuts

Card: Beautiful Promenade with a Mix of Magnolia

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I have lots more Christmas cards that I would like to make and here's hoping that that actually happens! But before we talk about more Christmas cards, today's card is instead a wonderful example of mixing different sets to pull together a lovely card.

And here is today's project...

This card is a mix of the Good Morning Magnolia and Beautiful Layers sets.  They are two of my favorites and I love the way these two have come together.  The base colors for this card are Crumb Cake and Mossy Meadow which of course complement the Good Morning Magnolia DSP.  The layers of die-cuts from the Beautiful Layers set really bring together the softness of this card.  I did not initially set out to create such an intricate card, but sometimes those can be the most fun to create because with each layer the card just starts coming together.

As an added bonus, I created a separate tag to complement the card.  The tag was super easy to create and started with a base of Crumb Cake and Whisper White.  The large magnolia stamp was masked to create a blank space just the perfect size for the "Thinking of You" sentiment.  The magnolia was then colored with Stampin' Blends in Crumb Cake, Mossy Meadow and So Saffron.

Card: Sending a Smile!

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post! I managed to find a little extra time in my she shed over the last few days (not sure how!) and I wanted to share today's creation.  It was off to the challenge boards for this girl just to get my creativity started.  I used a sketch challenge as a jumping off point for today's card.

And here is today's card...

The Designer Series Paper is from the Share What You Love retired suite.  I still have a bit of a stash left, so I put it to good use with this card.  I love the vellum underneath the DSP and I feel like it really adds that extra touch to have two layers on top of the cardstock base.  I also wanted to keep it from feeling to "green", so I think the vellum really softens it up.

I practiced with my heat tool and embossing powder and I am proud to say that it only took me three times to create today's sentiment! I'm getting better! As I was searching for some tips and tricks for the embossing technique, I did come across the "embossing buddy", which I may have to look into for the future.  Anyone recommend this?? Any good tips that you can pass on for making sure your embossing powder does not stick to other areas of your paper?? I love the look of embossing, but I always make sure to give myself extra time and supplies (haha!) when using this technique on my cards!

Card Details

Stamp: Daisy Lane, Delightful Day, A Big Thank You, Beautiful Promenade
Ink: Versamark, Tuxedo Black

Accessories: Linen Twine

Card: Sketch Challenge

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post.  I needed a little creative time this weekend and decided to participate in this week's challenge over at the Paper Players.  I love playing along with challenges because they give me the chance to be creative while still getting at least a starting point whether it be a sketch, color scheme, etc.

And here is today's project...

So I'm sure everyone knows by now my love of vellum! This particular sheet of Designer Series Paper has some very bold colors in my opinion, so that layer of vellum really just adds to the softness of the card.  The small strip of Fresh Fig is stamped with one of the border stamps from the Beautiful Promenade stamp and I think it gives that small strip just a little bit more character.  You can see below that I added that same strip across the inside, bottom.  I have been trying to be more particular on the stamp sets that I have been purchasing now that I am getting quite the little collection.  My next goal is to really start building a collection that not only gives great front sentiments, but also some beautiful sayings for the inside of a card.

Card Details
Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Paper: Crumb Cake, Fresh Fig, Whisper White, Vellum, Designer Series Paper
Stamp Set: Beautiful Promenade
Ink: Fresh Fig, Crumb Cake
Tools: Layering Circles die cut, Sprig Punch, Beautiful Layers die cut
Accessories: White satin ribbon

Ok so I realized after it was too late that I actually put the sentiment in the wrong place (see sketch below) :( But I'm going to go with it and call it creative interpretation! Blame mommy brain on that one because I was pretty sure I nailed it this week...but not so much! Haha!

Card: Beautiful Promenade

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post! Hopefully everyone's week is off to a great start! I enjoyed some extra craft time this weekend in my "she shed" and it was wonderful! I received some new Stampin' Up! goodies and I couldn't wait to craft and create! There is so much creativity to share, so I thought I would start with today's card featuring the Beautiful Promenade stamp set.

And here is today's card...

I have been wanting to use this beautiful Mint Macaroon cardstock for quite some time, but for some reason I couldn't quite figure out how to feature it.  Needless to say, I have quite a few sheets of it hanging around and a few scraps as well.  So today I took it out and was determined to use it!

Paired with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso, I thought the Mint Macaroon was really able to shine. I wanted to make a "sort of" sympathy card, but not feature the typical blacks, etc., so I thought these colors went well to create a somber, soothing card.  The sentiment is from the Good Morning Magnolia set; however, the stamp is used partially on the front and partially on the inside by way of "masking" the stamp (see inside photo below).
