Card: Sketch Challenge

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post.  I needed a little creative time this weekend and decided to participate in this week's challenge over at the Paper Players.  I love playing along with challenges because they give me the chance to be creative while still getting at least a starting point whether it be a sketch, color scheme, etc.

And here is today's project...

So I'm sure everyone knows by now my love of vellum! This particular sheet of Designer Series Paper has some very bold colors in my opinion, so that layer of vellum really just adds to the softness of the card.  The small strip of Fresh Fig is stamped with one of the border stamps from the Beautiful Promenade stamp and I think it gives that small strip just a little bit more character.  You can see below that I added that same strip across the inside, bottom.  I have been trying to be more particular on the stamp sets that I have been purchasing now that I am getting quite the little collection.  My next goal is to really start building a collection that not only gives great front sentiments, but also some beautiful sayings for the inside of a card.

Card Details
Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Paper: Crumb Cake, Fresh Fig, Whisper White, Vellum, Designer Series Paper
Stamp Set: Beautiful Promenade
Ink: Fresh Fig, Crumb Cake
Tools: Layering Circles die cut, Sprig Punch, Beautiful Layers die cut
Accessories: White satin ribbon

Ok so I realized after it was too late that I actually put the sentiment in the wrong place (see sketch below) :( But I'm going to go with it and call it creative interpretation! Blame mommy brain on that one because I was pretty sure I nailed it this week...but not so much! Haha!

Today's project was inspired by the following challenge:

Card: Beautiful Promenade

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post! Hopefully everyone's week is off to a great start! I enjoyed some extra craft time this weekend in my "she shed" and it was wonderful! I received some new Stampin' Up! goodies and I couldn't wait to craft and create! There is so much creativity to share, so I thought I would start with today's card featuring the Beautiful Promenade stamp set.

And here is today's card...

I have been wanting to use this beautiful Mint Macaroon cardstock for quite some time, but for some reason I couldn't quite figure out how to feature it.  Needless to say, I have quite a few sheets of it hanging around and a few scraps as well.  So today I took it out and was determined to use it!

Paired with Crumb Cake and Early Espresso, I thought the Mint Macaroon was really able to shine. I wanted to make a "sort of" sympathy card, but not feature the typical blacks, etc., so I thought these colors went well to create a somber, soothing card.  The sentiment is from the Good Morning Magnolia set; however, the stamp is used partially on the front and partially on the inside by way of "masking" the stamp (see inside photo below).

Card: Magnolia for a Sympathy

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post! I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far.  I know that I have been busy trying to keep my little entertained these last few weeks and we still have about two more months of summer to go! The Texas heat is here, so there will be lots more pool and splash pad time in our future!! That being said, I am working "overtime" trying to get some cards done and have been sneaking in some crafting between pools, naps and friend time!

I am back today to share a sympathy card made from the beautiful Magnolia Lane suite.  Sympathy cards are never easy, so I went ahead and played along with the TGIF Challenge to have a few sympathy cards for my stash.  Always good to have these on hand especially when a friend is in need of a kind word or two.

And here is today's card...

The magnolia flower really steals the show on this one.  And the extra layers of designer paper help bring the flower to life.  I mixed the new with the old on this one as the sentiment stamp is from a retired Stampin' Up! set called Heartfelt Blooms.  It may be a retired set, but I thought that particular sentiment was just the right touch.

Technique Tip: I used the "masking" technique to create an oval shape around the stamped sentiment.  First, stamp the sentiment in the center of a die-cut piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Simply cut an oval shape from extra, scrap cardstock and tape over the sentiment.  Stamp the surrounding background images in the color of your choice on and around the oval shape.  Peel away the oval to reveal the sentiment.

Card Details
Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Mossy Meadow, Magnolia Lane DSP
Ink: Mossy Meadow
Stamp Set: Good Morning Magnolia, Heartfelt Blooms
Tools: Rectangle Stitched die set, Magnolia Memory die set
Accessories: Linen Twine

I included the picture below that was taken during "construction".  I had the magnolia flower and coordinating leaves cut and ready to be assembled on the card; however, I thought at this point the card was just as pretty.  So I thought I would share this photo as well just to show how a card can go from simple to spectacular with just a few extra pieces.

Today's card was inspired by the following challenges...

Across the top: Ribbon (linen twine), Patterned Paper (Magnolia Lane DSP), Die-Cut (Magnolia)

Card: Sneak Peek "Magnolia Lane Suite"

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to today's post!  I am so excited to share today's project because it features some of the latest goodies that will be available starting June 4, 2019 in this year's new Stampin' Up! catalog.  I already have a long "favorites list" and I know you will too once the new catalog is available.  The Designer Series Paper are all keepers and the coordination with the new stamps sets are sure to be a must have for your stamping stash!

And here is today's project...

Having to put together a sympathy card is always a difficult one.  But I hope that I can bring a little joy during a difficult time when I present a friend or loved one with a handmade card.  With the new Magnolia Lane products, creating a sympathy card is a little easier as the paper, stamps and sentiments are lovely, sophisticated and lend themselves to creating a card with a peaceful and tranquil message.

The card stock featured is from the Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper set and the magnolia stamp is from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set.  Both of these products will be available beginning June 4, 2019.

I featured two carryover products with the sentiment stamp (Make A Difference Stamp Set #146676) and die cut (Well Said Die Cut #148534).  Both of these products have been so useful in my craft room as they can be used for a variety of occasions.

See some additional photos below of today's project (includes a sneak peek photo of a portion of the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set!)...

The large magnolia stamp is used both on the inside sentiment as well as some additional decoration to the envelope flap.

Card: Thoughts and Prayers

Hello and Welcome!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday!

I am sharing a card today that was inspired by this week's sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches.  In addition to the sketch inspiration, I wanted to focus on a few sample sympathy, thank you and just because cards over the next few weeks.  I am working to start my own Card Ministry with my church and it is something that I have been thinking about for quite sometime.  I have been looking for ways to get more involved with my congregation/community and I thought why not share my love of cards.  I think I have a nice little plan for my next steps and I hope you'll come along this journey with me.

So here is today's card...

The Mint Macaron cardstock helped to create a peaceful background to the beautiful DSP.  A touch of vellum helped to frame the sentiment as well as bring out the sprig punches.  The more I work with vellum the more I love it.  I think it brings that soft touch and can really complete a card.  More vellum!!!

The card actually opens down the middle and it is my first time created a card like this.  I wanted to do something a little more unique today and I love the way it turned out.

Card Details

Paper: Mint Macaron, Basic Black, Whisper White, Share What You Love DSP, Vellum
Ink: Tuxedo Black
Stamp Set: Wishing You Well, August 2018 Paper Pumpkin (inside sentiment)
Accessories: Circle Punch, Sprig Punch, Alpine Sports Thinlits
Embellishments: Rich Razzleberry Velvet Ribbon
