Spotlight Saturday: Lovely Floral Embossing Folder

Hello and Welcome!

A happy Saturday to everyone! I hope everyone had a great week.  We enjoyed a few days of unseasonably warm weather and with a preschooler and Boston Terrier in tow that kind of weather is always welcome!

In between park dates and dog walks, I managed to craft a few cards using a few of the challenges that were out for the week.  In addition, I wanted to throw the spotlight on a specific product from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  I choose to focus on the Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for today's card.  You can check this product out on page 176-177 of the Annual Catalog as a part of the Share What You Love suite (which is one of my personal favorites).  It goes along with one of my goals to start using the embossing folders more now that I have my Big Shot (which I also love!).

So here is today's card...

Step-by-step instructions

1.)  Start with a piece of Basic Black card stock cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" as the card base.
2.)  Trim a piece of Gray Granite to 4" x 5 1/4". Adhere to the card base with Snail Adhesive.
3.)  Trim a piece of Fresh Fig card stock to 3 3/4" x 5".
4.)  Using the Big Shot, emboss the Fresh Fig card stock with the embossing folder.  I did not want to cover up the too much of the flower once the sentiment piece was adhered to the card, so I embossed the paper only about 1/2 from the top of the paper.  The left plenty of blank space at the bottom for the sentiment.  Adhere to the card base with Snail Adhesive.
5.)  Stamp the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink on Whisper White card stock.  Using the smallest rectangle stitched die (Whisper White sentiment) and 2nd smallest rectangle die (Basic Black), crop the sentiment section and adhere to the base with mini Stampin' dimensionals.

6.)  Adhere three self-adhesive pearls to the top right corner.

Lovely Flower Pot

Hello and Welcome!

Thanks for joining me today! I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend.  I am back today to share a card that was made during the quiet of a rare afternoon nap by my 4 year old.  It is a somewhat simple card, but I was thrilled to be able to use my new flower pot stamp (found this one and a few others for a bargain at a recent yard sale...boy do I love a good yard sale!).  I thought card making was relaxing, but enjoying the quiet and coloring in those beautiful flowers was a much needed stress reliever.

I'm also entering this into this week's challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  I know it is a very loose interpretation of the sketch, but I thought the circular design of the background paper lent itself to the three circular designs at the bottom of the sketch.  I know, I know...loose interpretation like I said.

I also found a new challenge while looking around on some of my favorite sites.  I found the CAS-ual Fridays challenge and turns out the color scheme that I randomly choose for this card (pinks and greys) fits this week's challenge.  So I think I'll go ahead and join that challenge for the first time!

Here is the sketch and the color scheme...

And here is my card...

I hope to use my markers for more stamp coloring projects in the future.  I think it really adds a nice touch to the stamps.

Supplies Used: Jack and Jill by Lori Whitlock paper, Firefly alcohol markers, twine and Sizzix oval framelits

Heard it from a little birdie...

Hello and Welcome!

I am super excited for today's post because I am finally taking the plunge and participating in a card makers challenge.  I found these challenges a few weeks ago and have found them to be a huge inspiration!

Today I am participating in the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.  Here is the sketch...

And here is my card...

Inside stamping

The background cardstock was a fun find during my weekly craft shopping!  It is from the Jack and Jill by Lori Whitlock pack and I am already in love with it.  Sidenote: I recently started updating my house to try and reflect a "rustic farmhouse" feel.  I have found that that inspiration is making its way to other crafty parts of my life, so I loved being able to incorporate the beautiful, wood plank background into this card!

I also added a bit of stamping to the inside of the card.  I haven't been decorating the inside of my cards lately, but I found this wonderful stamp set recently and had to use it to add just a bit of decoration to the inside.

Here's hoping that I link everything correctly for my first challenge!!!!
