Get Well Soon!

Hello and Welcome!

Today I am playing along with this week's challenge from Freshly Made Sketches.  It is my first time playing along with this challenge group.  Fall has started to show here in Austin and while we have gotten loads of rain the weather has also started to cool, which is a major relief.  As I took a walk around our neighborhood, I came across a garden with a group of beautiful zinnias that were blooming in the most vibrant colors.  I knew I had to use that as inspiration for today's card.  So here it goes...

The beautiful patterned paper is from Victorian Gardens by Cassandra Cooper and I think it is just the perfect green for fall.  The die cut shapes were the closest I had to re-creating the "zinnia" effect, but I love the deep, rich colors against the green background.  The "Get Well Soon" sentiment was chosen as yours truly is battling the first cold of the fall/winter season...kid germs are the worst.  Perhaps I will send this card to myself in the mail.

Heard it from a little birdie...

Hello and Welcome!

I am super excited for today's post because I am finally taking the plunge and participating in a card makers challenge.  I found these challenges a few weeks ago and have found them to be a huge inspiration!

Today I am participating in the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.  Here is the sketch...

The background cardstock was a fun find during my weekly craft shopping!  It is from the Jack and Jill by Lori Whitlock pack and I am already in love with it.  Sidenote: I recently started updating my house to try and reflect a "rustic farmhouse" feel.  I have found that that inspiration is making its way to other crafty parts of my life, so I loved being able to incorporate the beautiful, wood plank background into this card!

I also added a bit of stamping to the inside of the card.  I haven't been decorating the inside of my cards lately, but I found this wonderful stamp set recently and had to use it to add just a bit of decoration to the inside.

Here's hoping that I link everything correctly for my first challenge!!!!

A Small Collection

Welcome to today's post!

I have been searching the internet for some places to post my creations and there are so many lovely challenges and inspiration boards out there.  I can't wait to start sharing my ideas and getting feedback from the wonderful crafters that are out there.  Because I am new to these boards and sites, I thought maybe I would post a small collection of the cards I have already made for friends and family over the last few months.  I am working primarily with a Sizzix Sidekick right now, but I hope to add to my card making tools in the near future (can you say Christmas list?!?).

ATX Paper House

Hello all! Welcome to the first post of my first blog! I am very new to the art of blogging and to the art of paper crafts. Well, not too new to the paper crafts part, but I am always learning and looking for inspiration and ideas. I am currently a stay-at-home to a lovely 4 year old little girl, but she has entered into the wonderful world of school and I now have a little extra time to craft, stamp and create. I am excited to share some of my ideas and see what new ideas I can learn from fellow "paper crafters". I hope you enjoy!
